Depending on where you live, having the right home insurance policy can provide you with a peace of mind as well as the money you need to repair or replace your home and/or belongings.
What comes to mind when you think of home insurance? The mortgage company requires me to have it? If your home is damaged or destroyed, you will need that claim reimbursement from an insurance company to repair or replace your home.
You choose which policy is best for you.
We help you make it easier to choose the insurance coverage. We identify the home insurance package that will best meet your needs while providing the most value for coverage, quality service, and premiums.
1. Dwelling Coverage
Property or Dwelling Coverage typically pays to repair or rebuild your home if it’s damaged or destroyed by an insured event like a kitchen fire or windstorm.
2. Personal Liability Coverage
Applies if someone is injured or their property is damaged and you are to blame. The coverage generally applies anywhere in the world. When choosing your liability coverage limits, consider things like how much money you make and the assets you own. Your personal liability coverage should be high enough to protect your assets if you are sued.
3. Medical Coverage
This covers medical expenses for guests if they are injured on your property, and in certain cases covers people who are injured off of your property. It does not cover health care costs for you or other members of your household.
4. Additional Living Expenses (Loss of Use)
If you can’t live in your home because of a covered loss, your home insurance policy will pay additional living expenses while damage is assessed and your home is repaired or rebuilt.
5. Personal Property
Your home is filled with furniture, clothes, electronics and other items that mean a lot to you. Personal Property Insurance helps replace these items if they are lost, stolen or destroyed as a result of a covered loss.
6. Special Endorsements
You may need to talk with your independent agent about special endorsements that cover certain high-valued items that are excluded from your standard personal belongings coverage. Things like fine jewelry and weapons may be worth much more than they would be covered for without a home insurance endorsement. Likewise, you may need to add extra coverage for business activities that occur in your home. If a client is injured while meeting you at your home office, for example, you might need extra liability to cover the cost.
7. Wind/Hail Deductible
This is the amount the homeowner will pay out of pocket for a claim. The dollar amount to be paid by the homeowner is calculated based on the wind/hail percent multiplied by the Dwelling coverage in the policy.
8. Deductible on All Other Perils (AOP)
This is the deductible percent the insurer determines that is part of a covered loss that is not wind/hail/hurricane/named storm.
7. Additional Endorsements
The homeowner has options for additional coverage to be added to their home insurance policy. Some of the additional endorsements include, but not limited to are:
